Biography

Thomas R. Belin is a Professor in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He served as the Acting Chair of his department during the 2011-2012 academic year and held the position of Vice Chair from 2012 to 2023. His methodological interests are primarily focused on causal inference and handling incomplete data. He has a joint appointment with the UCLA Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences, where his collaborative work has significantly impacted mental health, health services, and quality of life research. Belin chaired the Design Committee for the Community Partners Care initiative, which aimed to explore alternative strategies for disseminating evidence-based care for depression. Belin's published work has appeared in prestigious journals, and he has supervised 18 doctoral dissertations and participated on more than 70 doctoral dissertation committees, earning recognition for his outstanding advising and mentoring.
