Biography

Thomas Bjørner is the head of the research unit Media Innovation & Game Research (Me-Ga) at Aalborg University. He has extensive expertise in user evaluations and qualitative mixed method approaches, focusing on technology-related projects. With more than 90 publications, including textbooks, Thomas has been a principal investigator and participant in over 13 research projects. He is recognized as an expert evaluator for the European Commission, and serves as a rapporteur for EU grant applications, as well as a peer reviewer for several prestigious international journals. His research addresses methodological advancements in user evaluations and technology acceptance, exploring various fields such as gamified learning, youth mobility, and television studies. Recently, his work has incorporated virtual reality to enhance learning and social communication. Thomas also plays a significant role in teaching qualitative mixed methods at both bachelor and master levels and organizes PhD courses in advanced qualitative methods. He has supervised numerous successful PhD candidates in these areas.
