Dr. Thomas Blasingame

Biography

Thomas Blasingame is a Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University, where he also serves as the Department Head and the Robert L. Whiting Professor. He is the Director of the Crisman Institute for Petroleum Research and has made significant contributions to the field of petroleum engineering, particularly in the areas of unconventional reservoirs and production data analysis. Blasingame has a strong educational background with a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University, earned in 1989, following his M.S. in 1986 and B.S. in 1984, both also from Texas A&M University. His research interests include pressure transient data analysis, technical mathematics in reservoir performance, and specialized model-based analysis techniques. Blasingame has received numerous accolades, including the Honorary Member status from the Society of Petroleum Engineers in 2015 and has been recognized as a Distinguished Member since 2000. Furthermore, he served as President of the Society of Petroleum Engineers from 2020 to 2021 and has received several prestigious awards for his service and contributions to the field.
