Dr. Thomas Bregnballe

Biography

Thomas Bregnballe is a Senior Scientist and Senior Researcher in the Department of Ecoscience at Aarhus University. His primary research focuses on waterbirds and their habitat management, with specific expertise in the Great Cormorant and various gull species. He has been involved in numerous projects related to Wadden Sea ecology and the impacts of environmental changes on bird populations. With over 200 research outputs since 2001, Bregnballe has actively contributed to the understanding of avian ecology in Denmark and beyond, including presentations, consultancy activities, and participation in various committees. He currently leads multiple research projects focused on bird conservation and management strategies in Denmark, ensuring sustainable practices in the light of climate change and other anthropogenic pressures. His collaborations extend across Europe, where he has been part of various significant research networks.
