Dr. Thomas Brudholm

Biography

Thomas Brudholm is an Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen, specializing in the philosophical underpinnings of ethical issues related to mass violence and transitional justice. His research focuses on the aftermath of mass atrocities, particularly the emotions surrounding forgiveness, resentment, and justice in post-conflict societies. He has a PhD in Philosophy from the Danish University of Education and has published extensively, including monographs such as 'Resentment's Virtue'. Brudholm has co-edited volumes like 'Religious Responses to Mass Atrocity' and contributed to numerous academic journals. He leads the collective research project 'Eftertanker', exploring ethical questions among individuals living with the consequences of violence and oppression. With experience as a visiting scholar at prestigious institutions and an editorial board member for significant journals, Brudholm is also actively involved in teaching courses related to ethics, minority studies, and genocidal studies, aiming to deepen understanding of the moral complexities of contemporary conflicts.
