Biography

Thomas Fritz is an Associate Professor in the Department of Informatics at the University of Zurich. His research primarily focuses on the Human Aspects of Software Engineering, particularly studying software developers and their experiences in order to improve productivity and well-being through empirical methods. He investigates topics like the use of biometric data to understand developers’ perceptions of productivity, and he has authored several notable publications in these areas. Thomas completed his PhD at the University of British Columbia in 2011, and he earned his Diplom degree from Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich in 2005, where he also worked in the OBASCO research group at École des Mines de Nantes. In addition to his research, he is actively involved in teaching various courses related to software engineering at different academic levels and has mentored numerous graduate students throughout his career.
