Biography

Thomas González Roberts is an Assistant Professor with a joint appointment at the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs and the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He serves as the Director of Georgia Tech’s Engineering Space Policy Laboratory, where he leverages tools from observational astronomy and computational astrodynamics to study the behavior of Earth-orbiting satellites and the engagement of space actors in outer space governance. His research focuses on international coordination, sustainability, and security in space. Dr. Roberts has been recognized for his contributions by the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation and the National Science Foundation, and has earned accolades such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Prize for Open Data and the Geneva Centre for Security Policy’s Prize for Innovation in Global Security. He has also been featured in Forbes Magazine’s 30 Under 30 Science list. He holds a PhD in Aeronautics and Astronautics and a Master of Science in Technology Policy from MIT, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Astrophysical Sciences from Princeton University.
