Dr. Thomas Hayman

Biography

Thomas Hayman, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Therapeutic Radiology at Yale School of Medicine. He received his medical degree and doctoral degree from the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, completing training in both the MD and PhD tracks with a focus on Molecular Medicine. Dr. Hayman completed his residency in Radiation Oncology at Yale New Haven Hospital, achieving the position of Chief Resident during his training. His clinical expertise lies in the treatment of lung, head and neck, skin cancers, employing advanced radiation techniques such as stereotactic radiosurgery and intensity-modulated radiation therapy. His laboratory work focuses on understanding the mechanisms behind cellular resistance to DNA damage and aims to develop novel approaches to neutralize these adaptive responses. With an overall goal of translating discoveries into clinical practice, Dr. Hayman's research is integral to advancing the field of radiation oncology and improving patient outcomes.
