Biography

Thomas M. Hunt is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education at The University of Texas at Austin. His scholarship explores the intersection of physical culture and global political affairs. He is the author of the book "Drug Games: International Olympic Committee Politics Doping, 1960-2008," which critically analyzes the history of performance-enhancing sports and its impact on Cold War and post-Cold War politics. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 2007 and holds a J.D. from Baylor University School of Law as well as a B.A. in Government from the University of Texas at Austin. Hunt serves on editorial boards for several academic journals and has received numerous awards for his contributions to the field of sport history, including the Geopolitics Sports - Stratfor Guy Lewis Award in 2023. He teaches courses on legal issues in sport and international relations, actively engaging in discussions about the historical and cultural implications of sport.
