Thomas Kailath received his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Telecommunications in 1956 from the College of Engineering, Pune, India, followed by a Master of Science in 1959 and a Doctor of Science in 1961 in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Kailath has received numerous awards, including the IEEE Medal of Honor and the National Medal of Science from President Obama in 2014 for his significant contributions to the fields of information and system science, along with exceptional mentoring of young scholars.
