Biography

Dr. Thomas Klonisch is a highly accomplished medical professional dedicated to understanding and treating adult brain tumors. He received his MD and PhD from Justus Liebig University of Giessen in Germany. Dr. Klonisch initially worked at the Institute of Medical Microbiology at the University of Mainz. After receiving the Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship from the Alexander-von-Humboldt Foundation, he completed postdoctoral fellowships at Ontario Veterinary College and University College London. In 1996, he joined the anatomy and cell biology department at Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, where he taught aspects of anatomy and conducted cancer research. He received certification as an anatomist from the German Anatomical Society in 1999 and completed his Habilitation in 2000. By 2004, Dr. Klonisch became a full professor and head of the human anatomy and cell science department at Max Rady College of Medicine, where he served as department head for 15 years. His research focuses on the molecular determinants of brain tumor progression, therapy resistance, and the development of novel ABL kinase inhibitors.
