Dr. Thomas Macdonald

Biography

Thomas Macdonald is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of New South Wales, working in the Centre of Excellence in Exciton Science. His research focuses on the potential for using excitons as an information carrier to perform logic operations. Previously, he conducted research under the guidance of Professor Jon Beves at the School of Chemistry, where he utilized diffusion NMR to investigate supramolecular systems and non-equilibrium processes within solutions. Macdonald completed his PhD in Chemistry at UNSW and holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours from the University of Sydney. He has contributed to journal articles, including work published in ChemPhysChem that discusses time-resolved diffusion NMR measurements of transient processes. He was also awarded the UNSW Dean's Award for Outstanding PhD Thesis, recognizing his significant contributions to understanding spin physics and energy transfer processes involving molecular excitons.
