Biography

Thomas Maillart investigates, models, and enhances human collective intelligence, focusing on understanding the incentives, structures, and dynamics of social interactions in the online and physical world. He holds a Master's degree from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) obtained in 2005 and a PhD from ETH Zurich, completed in 2011. He was awarded the Zurich Dissertation Prize in 2012 for his pioneering work on cyber risks. In 2016, he joined the University of Geneva as a post-doctoral researcher after spending time at UC Berkeley. Alongside his academic pursuits, Thomas co-founded a cybersecurity startup in 2005 and has consulted for both governmental and private organizations on cybersecurity issues.
