Thomas McKenney is currently an Associate Professor of Engineering Practice in the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the University of Michigan. He teaches both introductory and advanced ship design courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Before joining the Center in 2021, he was a Senior Manager at Royal Caribbean Group, overseeing technical projects and newbuild development for major cruise ship design and construction projects based in Miami, Florida, and Saint Nazaire, France. Thomas holds a Ph.D. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan, among other degrees in related fields.
