Biography

Thomas Mejtoft is an Associate Professor in Media Technology at Umeå University, Sweden, and has been recognized as an Excellent Teacher. He has extensive experience in teaching and research, focusing on media technology, interaction technology, interaction design, and the impact of technological changes in the media industry. As the director of a five-year integrated Master of Science study program in Interaction Technology and Design from 2011 to 2023, he contributed significantly to integrating innovative practices into the curriculum. Mejtoft holds dual Master of Science degrees in Engineering Physics and Business from Umeå University, and a PhD in Media Technology from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm. His research includes investigating students' learning processes and the challenges of digitalization and value creation within the context of media technology. He has received several accolades for his work, including the Faculty of Science and Technology’s Pedagogical Prize in 2016 for inspiring students and fellow educators, and in 2023, he was part of a team that received the Vice-Chancellor's Staff Excellence Award at Edith Cowan University for outstanding contributions to student learning. His scholarly work has been published in international journals and he has presented at numerous conferences.
