Professor Dr. Thomas Morstyn

Biography

Thomas Morstyn is an Associate Professor in Power Systems at the University of Oxford and an Honorary Fellow at the University of Edinburgh's School of Engineering. His research focuses on the design and control of power systems, enabling large-scale integration of distributed energy resources and enhancing system flexibility. He acts as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Power Systems and co-chairs the IEEE Power & Energy Society Taskforce on Quantum Computing for Power System Operations. Thomas has a rich background in Electrical Engineering, holding a PhD from the University of New South Wales and a Bachelor's degree with Honours from the University of Melbourne. His areas of expertise include power system modelling, electricity market design, peer-to-peer energy trading, smart charging for electric vehicles, vehicle-to-grid interactions, and microgrid control. He is interested in collaborating with students pursuing PhD opportunities in these fields.
