Dr. Thomas Nichols

Biography

Thomas Nichols is a Professor of Neuroimaging Statistics at the University of Oxford's Nuffield Department of Population Health. He is a Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellow with a focus on developing modeling and inference methods for brain image data. With a unique background that combines industrial and academic experience in computer science, cognitive neuroscience, and statistics, he has made significant contributions to neuroimaging research, particularly in methods for statistical inference and multiple testing. Nichols has extensive experience with diverse types of imaging data, including Positron Emission Tomography and Magnetoencephalography, and is known for his pioneering work in clinical trials involving imaging and methods that integrate genetic data with neuroimaging. Since returning to academia in 2009 after serving as Director of Modeling and Genetics at GlaxoSmithKline's Clinical Imaging Centre, he has held positions at the University of Warwick and the University of Michigan, further advancing the field of neuroimaging through his collaborative efforts and innovative research.
