Dr. Thomas Parisini

Biography

Thomas Parisini received his Laurea degree (Cum Laude) in Electronic Engineering from the University of Genoa in 1988 and his Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science in 1993 from Politecnico di Milano. He holds the Chair in Industrial Control at Imperial College London and is the Head of the Control Power Research Group. He has served as Director of the Research Department in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and has been the Danieli Endowed Chair in Automation Engineering at the University of Trieste. Parisini was appointed as Deputy Rector of the University of Trieste from 2009 to 2012 and received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Aalborg in Denmark in 2018. He has authored and co-authored numerous research papers and monographs, with interests in monitoring, diagnosis, and control security of large-scale critical infrastructure systems, smart grids, and industrial process control. Parisini has received several awards, including the IFAC Application Paper Prize and the IEEE Distinguished Member Award. He has secured major research grants, including significant projects funded by the European Union and the Italian Ministry of Research. He has held various editorial positions in academic journals and conferences, and has served as President of the IEEE Control Systems Society.
