Biography

Thomas Popham is an Associate Professor and Head of Education at the School of Engineering, University of Warwick. He completed his PhD in Computer Vision at the University of Warwick in 2010. Following his degree, he worked at Jaguar Land Rover as a Machine Learning Engineer from 2010 to 2014 and later held the position of Machine Learning Technical Specialist/Manager from 2014 to 2017. In 2020, he was appointed as Director of Studies for Systems Information Engineering, overseeing various courses including Systems Engineering BEng/MEng, Biomedical Systems Engineering BEng/MEng, General Engineering BEng/MEng, and Biomedical Engineering MSc. His research interests span Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Automated Driving, Learning User Preferences, Intelligent Vehicle Systems, and State Estimation. He is also affiliated with the Image Processing Expert Systems Laboratory and has current PhD students working on topics such as Transparency and Explainability in Machine Learning and Domain Transfer Learning.
