Dr. Thomas Sepe

Biography

Thomas E. Sepe, MD, is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University and a partner at University Gastroenterology, a prominent private practice group in Rhode Island, focused on gastrointestinal and liver diseases. He serves as the Director of the Liver Center at University Gastroenterology, managing a robust clinical trials unit dedicated to liver disease research. Dr. Sepe has supervised numerous clinical trials, including 70 focused on Hepatitis C infection and additional trials investigating non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and cirrhosis. His expertise is recognized both locally and nationally, making him a sought-after authority in the treatment and research of liver diseases. Dr. Sepe completed his undergraduate studies at Brown University, earning an AB in Biology in 1984, and later obtained his MD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City in 1988. His postgraduate training included internal medicine at Harvard Medical School-Beth Israel Hospital and specialization in gastroenterology and liver disease at Tufts University-New England Medical Center. He has contributed to medical education by teaching medical residents and fellows and has authored 11 peer-reviewed publications alongside 17 abstracts. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he is actively involved in the Nexus Clinical Trials LLC, a cohort of regional investigators focused on GI and liver-related research.
