Biography

Thomas Styron earned a BA in English, an MA in Political Science from Columbia University, and an MS and PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He has held various leadership positions at the New York Coalition for the Homeless and the National Coalition for the Homeless Association, which he co-founded. Styron completed postgraduate training at Yale University in association with the Connecticut Mental Health Center and served as the Executive Director of the Obsessive Compulsive Foundation. Joining the Psychiatry faculty at Yale in 1999, he has taken on senior leadership roles within the Connecticut Mental Health Center, primarily focusing on recovery-oriented care for individuals with serious mental illnesses. Styron also directs the Psychology Training for the Adult Community Mental Health division and serves as a Faculty Advisor for Yale's Student Admissions Committee. He maintains a limited private practice in the East Rock neighborhood, catering to the Yale community.
