Biography

Thomas Alexander Treibel is a clinical academic cardiologist with a specialized interest in valvular heart disease and heart failure multimodality imaging. He is a British Heart Foundation Intermediate Clinical Research Fellow and has held various academic positions at University College London (UCL), where he is currently a Professor of Cardiology. His educational background includes First Class Honours from St. John’s College, Cambridge, and he completed his early clinical training at Imperial College London. He has been awarded the NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship in Cardiology at UCL and has successfully applied for the NIHR Doctoral Fellowship under the supervision of James Moon's group. Treibel has also served in several honorary and consultant roles, including his current position as Consultant Cardiologist at Barts Health, and has contributed to the British Society of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance as a Treasurer and Program Co-Chair for CMR2024 in London. Throughout his career, he has focused on advancing cardiac imaging techniques and has established a successful research profile, reflected in his role as Associate Professor and ongoing research fellowship.
