Biography

Thomas Walker holds an MBA and PhD in Finance from Washington State University. Before his academic career, he spent several years working in the German consulting industrial sector, with firms like Mercedes Benz, Utility Consultants International, Lahmeyer International, Telenet, and KPMG. His research interests include sustainable finance, emerging risk management, banking, and fintech, and he has published over eighty journal articles in these areas. He is also the lead editor of twenty books covering topics such as sustainable financial systems, corporate governance, and developments in sustainable aviation. In 2021, he was appointed Director of the Jacques Ménard - BMO Centre for Capital Markets at Concordia University and later became the Concordia University Research Chair in Emerging Risk Management (Tier 1). By 2025, he anticipates taking on the role of Executive Director (Academic) at the Institute for Sustainable Finance (ISF). His areas of expertise encompass Sustainability & Climate Change, Responsible Investing, Risk Management, and Corporate Governance among others.
