Judge Thomas Wheeler was appointed to the United States Court of Federal Claims on October 24, 2005. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law School in 1973 and his undergraduate degree from Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, in 1970. Prior to his appointment, he practiced law in Washington, D.C., where he specialized in government contract law, litigation, and counseling, representing a wide array of clients from large corporations to small businesses. He was previously an associate partner at Pettit & Martin in 1995 and later moved to be a partner at Piper & Marbury, which eventually became known as DLA Piper. Over his legal career, Judge Wheeler has appeared before various legal boards and courts, including the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the Government Accountability Office. He is an active member of the District of Columbia Bar and the American Bar Association's Public Contracts Litigation Sections. Outside of his legal work, Judge Wheeler is involved in his church community and has coached youth soccer. His hobbies include skiing, photography, writing, softball, and hiking.
