The history of life on Earth is marked by complex interactions among species, genomes, and phenotypes that are constantly changing in response to varying environments. By reconstructing deep-time evolutionary patterns and processes, my research aims to uncover insights into the construction of past and modern biological diversity. My lab in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Princeton University investigates phenomena that integrate genomic and phenotypic data from living and fossil species. We focus on inferring the origin of major groups of vertebrates, with a strong emphasis on reptiles, evolutionary relationships, and key innovations that have driven major evolutionary transitions, particularly in the context of climate change over broad taxonomic time scales.
