Biography

Tianzhu Liu is a Postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bern, Institute of Geography. His academic journey includes an International PhD student exchange at Delft University of Technology, where he collaborated with the Faculty of Architecture and Built Environment. He completed his PhD in Sociology at the University of Paris-Saclay, focusing on the dynamics of urban planning and its socio-ecological impacts. Prior to his academic roles, he worked as a planner at the Shanghai Tongji Urban Planning Design Institute. Liu holds a Master's degree in Town County Planning and a Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, both from Tongji University, China. His research interests encompass sustainable planning development, urban-rural linkage, public policy, agri-food systems, and international comparisons. He aims to explore innovative approaches to urban commons and their potential role in promoting sustainability through public-private partnerships.
