Biography

Tibor Bosse is a Full Professor of Artificial Intelligence at Radboud University, specifically within the Communication Science and Media group. He is also the Program Director and the Scientific Director of the OnePlanet ICAI Lab for Precision Health, Nutrition & Behaviour. His research focuses on social artificial intelligence, particularly in the development of systems such as chatbots and social robots that facilitate natural interactions between machines and humans. He investigates the integration of insights from both computer science and social sciences to design and evaluate 'Social AI' systems capable of engaging in socially natural interactions. In addition to his technical work on algorithms that enable social AI systems to exhibit believable behaviors—such as emotion recognition and natural language processing—he also explores the psychological impact of these interactions on users. Bosse is actively involved in several professional organizations and initiatives aimed at advancing AI, including serving as a member of the Strategy Team of the Netherlands AI Coalition and as Chair of the NeFCA working group on Human Machine Communication.
