Biography

Tie Liu is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2006, after completing his M.S. there in 2004. He also holds two M.S. degrees from Tsinghua University, one obtained in 2000 and the other in 1998, where he also earned a Bachelor of Science degree. Professor Liu’s research interests primarily focus on Information Theory, Statistical Information Processing, and Machine Learning. He has made significant contributions to these areas and is recognized for his academic excellence, including being awarded the prestigious NSF CAREER Award in 2009. He continues to pursue cutting-edge research and education in engineering.
