Dr. Tifani Sadek

Biography

Tifani Sadek is a Clinical Professor of Law at the University of Michigan Law School, where she directs the Law Mobility Program and co-directs the Zell Entrepreneurship Clinic. Prior to her academic career, Sadek had a legal career primarily focused on the intersection of law and business. She serves on the leadership team of Mcity, the University of Michigan's test facility for connected automated vehicles, where she chairs a legal working group that brings together attorneys, researchers, and industry professionals to foster research and policy development related to emerging technologies. Before joining the Law School faculty, Sadek was an attorney at General Motors, where she was the lead counsel for the expansion of connected vehicles in South America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. She negotiated transactions related to data sharing for connected vehicle operations. A native of Texas, Sadek relocated to Southeast Michigan in 2012 and became active in the Detroit area. Her prior experience also includes six years in private practice at large law firms, where she founded a Detroit-based boutique firm focused on serving general counsel for startups and small businesses. Sadek's work with entrepreneurs has earned her recognition from the Detroit Regional Chamber as an “Emerging Leader” and from Business Insider as one of the “One Fourteen People Changing the Face of Detroit.” Additionally, she has held volunteer leadership positions, including founding board chair of FoodLab Detroit, a nonprofit focused on food-based entrepreneurs, and an executive advisory board member for Techweek Detroit.
