Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Tiffany Amariuta. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Tiffany Amariuta is an Assistant Professor at the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute at UC San Diego. She earned her B.S. in Biological Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and completed her Ph.D. in Bioinformatics at Harvard Medical School, where she researched genetic susceptibility to autoimmune and polygenic diseases. During graduate school, Tiffany developed machine learning methods for predicting the functionality of regulatory variants, with applications in transcription factor binding prediction, eQTL mapping, and heritability enrichment analysis. Following her doctoral studies, she underwent postdoctoral training where she developed a method to infer causal disease cell types from genome-wide association data and gene expression datasets. Her research interests are focused on creating multi-ancestry genetic prediction methods to enhance disease inference for underrepresented populations.
