Biography

Tijs Slaats is an Associate Professor in the Human-Centered Computing section of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Copenhagen. His main research area is Business Process Management, with a particular focus on declarative hybrid process notations. He aims to provide technologies that facilitate flexible workflow support for knowledge workers. Currently, he is involved in the Hybrid Business Process Management Technologies project, funded by an individual postdoctoral grant from the Danish Council for Independent Research. Tijs obtained his M.Sc. in Information Technology and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Copenhagen, under the supervision of Thomas Hildebrandt. His Ph.D. research focused on developing techniques for safe and flexible cross-organizational workflow systems in the FLExCMS project, conducted in collaboration with Exformatics A/S, a Danish provider of electronic case management systems. Tijs has a solid background in the industry, having worked as a software engineer in the Dutch e-commerce sector, where he was the lead developer for projects involving large international clients. His academic and industry experiences contribute to his expertise in declarative workflow notations and the development of innovative workflow solutions.
