Biography

Tim Brady is an electric guitar virtuoso and composer based in Canada, known for his innovative contributions to electric classical, new music, and contemporary jazz guitar genres. He began teaching electric guitar part-time at Concordia University in September 2014, guiding students through diverse musical techniques from Bach to modern improvisation and digital technology applications. Brady holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music from Concordia University and a Master's degree from the New England Conservatory, both graduated with honors. Over his 35-year career, Brady has composed and performed a wide array of works, including 23 CDs, four operas, and ten symphonies, recognized by international media for their originality and depth. He has performed at prestigious venues and festivals around the globe, including the Montreal International Jazz Festival and the South Bank Centre in London. His contributions to new music have been acknowledged through numerous awards, including the Prix Opus and the Jan. V. Matecjek award from SOCAN. As a founding artistic director of several new music organizations, he has actively contributed to the community, fostering new artistic collaborations and promoting innovative works in Quebec and beyond.
