Dr. Tim Broyd

Biography

Tim Broyd has had a significant career at University College London, leveraging substantial experience in the corporate sector as a director focused on technology, innovation, and sustainability. He has worked extensively in engineering design consultancies such as Atkins and Halcrow. From 2002 to 2007, he served as the Chief Executive of CIRIA, a key research organization in the construction industry. In his current role, he collaborates with industry leaders and government to navigate future challenges and opportunities in construction, including responsible for 'foresight' input into the UK Government's strategy for construction. Tim is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Institution of Civil Engineers, as well as the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce. He holds visiting professorships in Construction Management at the University of Reading and in Civil Engineering at the University of Dundee. His dedication to developing and deploying Building Information Modelling (BIM) techniques spans over a decade, including being Vice Chairman of BuildingSmart (UK) Ltd and sitting on the UK Government's BIM Task Force. Tim is also the Director of CEEQUAL Limited, which assesses sustainability in infrastructure projects. He served as Vice President of the Institution of Civil Engineers from 2011 to 2017, focusing on Public Voice and Policy.
