Biography

Dr. Tim Bruns is an Associate Professor in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan. He serves as the Associate Department Chair for Graduate Programs. His research focuses on the interface of the peripheral nervous system aiming to restore function and examine systems-level neurophysiology. Within his lab, the Peripheral Neural Engineering Urodynamics Lab (pNEURO Lab), Dr. Bruns leads projects that develop closed-loop neuroprostheses, investigate neural control in both normal and dysfunctional states, and design and test innovative electrodes. His primary research interests are centered around neural interfaces, particularly those connecting to dorsal root ganglia to control autonomic organ functions. Through his work, he aims to advance our understanding of how to better integrate technology with biological systems to enhance therapeutic outcomes.
