Biography

Tim Campbell is a PhD candidate at Monash University's School of Rural Health, located in Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. His research focuses on how Child Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) respond to young people and their parents facing mental illness, emphasizing the perspectives of individuals with lived experience. His work is part of a larger project at Monash Rural Health aimed at understanding the mental health context within families and developing family-oriented interventions to support parents and children recovering from mental illness. In addition to his PhD work, Tim serves as a research officer for the Psychological Impacts Stream of the Hazelwood Health Study, a longitudinal project commissioned by the Victorian state government, which investigates the health outcomes of children and adults in the local community following a fire incident in Hazelwood, Latrobe Valley, in 2014. Tim graduated with first-class honors in psychological science from Federation University Australia in 2017, receiving the inaugural Angus McLachlan Award and the Australian Psychological Society Prize for his research thesis, which reflects his academic excellence. He has also worked in the welfare sector, providing care for children and young people within protective services.
