Tim Child studied medicine at the Universities of Cambridge and London, followed by postgraduate training in Oxford and Montreal at McGill University. He earned his MD from the University of London with a thesis titled 'Clinical ultrasound prediction outcome unstimulated oocyte in-vitro maturation cycles.' He is currently completing the RCOG Sub-Specialist Training in Reproductive Medicine. In 2004, he assumed the role of Senior Fellow at the Nuffield Department of Women's & Reproductive Health and has served as an Honorary Consultant Gynaecologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital. From 2004 to 2023, he served as Director and Medical Director of the Oxford Fertility Unit and played a pivotal role as Founding Group Medical Director of TFP, the largest assisted conception network in Europe. In 2015, he was appointed Associate Professor at the Nuffield Department of Women's & Reproductive Health. Tim has contributed to the NICE Fertility Guidelines and was appointed Secretary to the State Health Board of the HFEA in 2020. He chairs the HFEA's Scientific Clinical Advances Advisory Committee, which oversees the IVF Add-Ons rating system. His contributions to the field were recognized with the European Fertility Society's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021. He is also a Trustee of the Fertility Alliance and co-author of a leading textbook on Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
