Biography

Tim Kieffer is a professor at the University of British Columbia in the Department of Cellular and Physiological Sciences. He has co-authored more than 175 peer-reviewed publications, in addition to book chapters and patents. Kieffer has given over 100 invited presentations and has mentored more than 40 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, as well as numerous undergraduates. He is an active educator and has received several scholarships, including from the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research, the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research, and the JDRF. His research has been supported by several agencies, including the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Canadian Foundation for Innovation. Kieffer is a reviewer for grant applications and has served on review committees for various agencies. He was awarded the CDA Young Scientist Award in 2010 and was elected a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences in 2018. In 2016/17, he spent a sabbatical year at the Center for iPS Cell Research and Application at Kyoto University.
