Biography

Tim Kieffer has co-authored more than 175 peer-reviewed publications and several book chapters. His areas of research include the development of novel gene therapies and physiological insulin replacement for diabetes. He has been awarded numerous scholarships from organizations such as the Canadian Diabetes Association and the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research. Kieffer has also served as a reviewer and member of various grants review committees and is the chair of Scientific Officer Committees for both CIHR and CDA. He received the CDA Young Scientist Award in 2010 and was elected a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences in 2018. Kieffer spent a year on sabbatical at the Center for iPS Cell Research and Application at Kyoto University in 2016/17, furthering his research advancements in cellular and physiological sciences. His commitment to education is evident through his mentorship of over 40 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, as well as numerous undergraduates, making him an active teacher in his field.
