Professor Dr. Tim Murphy

Biography

Tim Murphy is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of British Columbia. His research focuses on understanding the brain's structure-function circuits in relation to stroke and CNS synaptic plasticity at the mesoscale level. He is dedicated to advancing treatments for stroke recovery and has developed high-throughput mouse models for studying psychiatric disorders such as depression and autism. His lab aims to innovate in brain imaging and stimulation techniques that can translate findings from animal models into patient therapies, particularly those that induce brain plasticity. Through a robust interdisciplinary approach, Murphy’s work seeks to facilitate the interrogation of brain circuits in vivo and improve therapeutic outcomes.
