Dr. Tim Rudner

Biography

Tim G. J. Rudner is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto specializing in machine learning, AI safety, and AI governance. With a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Oxford, he was previously a Junior Research Fellow at Trinity College, University of Cambridge and has held positions at Harvard University and Georgetown University's Center for Security and Emerging Technology. His research focuses on developing robust, transparent machine learning models suited for safety-critical applications. He is particularly interested in enhancing the statistical foundations of generative models, improving uncertainty quantification, and ensuring interpretability in AI agents. Tim aims to design regulatory frameworks for effective governance of advanced AI models. He is passionate about mentoring first-generation low-income students navigating higher education and is actively seeking PhD students and postdoctoral fellows to join his research endeavors.
