Biography

Tim Salcudean holds the C.A. Laszlo Chair in Biomedical Engineering and is a Canada Research Chair at the University of British Columbia. He is a professional engineer and a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Salcudean obtained his Bachelor of Engineering in 1979 and Master of Engineering in 1981 from McGill University, followed by a Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley in 1986. His research focuses on measurement-based anatomical model building, elastography applications for medical diagnosis and interventions, as well as the development of medical robotics and image guidance systems. He also works on devices, systems controls, computer interfaces, force feedback, teleoperation, and virtual environments. Over the years, Salcudean has been actively involved in teaching and mentoring students in these fields, contributing to the academic community through his expertise and research.
