Professor Dr. Tim Stratford

Biography

Professor Tim Stratford is a leading expert in the field of Civil Environmental Engineering. He holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge, obtained in 2000, and has a strong academic background with degrees including MEng and MA(Cantab) from Jesus College, University of Cambridge. His research primarily focuses on advanced composite materials, specifically Fibre Reinforced Polymers (FRPs), and their application in construction and structural engineering. His work involves the design and analysis of FRP materials for use in different structural elements, including the strengthening of existing materials through bonding techniques and the use of FRP in concrete reinforcement. He has developed methods for creating durable, mechanically sound adhesive joints in FRP applications, addressing challenges in construction where traditional materials may fail. Additionally, Professor Stratford has conducted experimental research into the structural response of FRP composite materials under various conditions, including fire, and their application in precast concrete elements. He is also involved in instructional activities and has published extensively in his domain, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in infrastructure and environmental engineering.
