Biography

Tim Waters studied Mathematics at the University of Bristol. After graduation, he spent years at British Aerospace (Airbus) Ltd working on aerodynamic elastic modelling of aircraft structures and flutter prediction. He completed his PhD at the University of Bristol, funded by British Aerospace, focused on research into new methods for validating dynamic finite element models of aircraft wings. He joined the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR) in 1998, initially as a research fellow and consulting engineer. He is currently a professor of vibration engineering, with a broad range of research interests spanning the mitigation and exploitation of structural vibration. His work includes investigations into wave propagation in structures, vibration control, and vibration-based structural health monitoring.
