Biography

Tim Weiss is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship at Imperial College London. His research program applies an organizational theory lens to study entrepreneurship phenomena, with a specific focus on the changing nature of entrepreneurship and its social effects. His research has been published in top management journals and covered in the business press. Utilizing qualitative methods such as extensive fieldwork, ethnography, and archival work, Tim investigates phenomena such as colocating identical car repair firms in Kenya, gig worker experimentation, and fraud cases involving Silicon Valley start-ups. He is a founding member of the Interdisciplinary Network for Technology Entrepreneurship Research in Africa, aimed at supporting emerging research talent focused on studying African economies. Before joining the faculty at Imperial College, Tim was a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Work, Technology & Organization in Stanford’s Management Science and Engineering Department. He holds a Doctorate and Master’s degree from Zeppelin University in Germany and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Vienna.
