Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Timon Idema. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Timon Idema obtained MSc degrees in Physics (2004) and Mathematics (2005), followed by a PhD in Theoretical Biophysics (2009) from Leiden University. He joined the University of Pennsylvania as a postdoc and later became an Associate Professor in the Department of Bionanoscience at Delft University of Technology in 2012. His research interests span a wide range of scales and focus on membrane-mediated interactions in groups of active particles, including proteins, cells, and tissues. As a theorist, Idema collaborates with various experimental groups within his department. He teaches a variety of courses in the degree programs and is actively involved in teaching innovation. Additionally, he serves as a board member of the condensed-matter division of the European Physical Society and is the program director for the MSc in Nanobiology. Current projects include pattern formation in heterogeneous tissues and colonies, as well as self-assembly of polymer networks on membranes.
Requirements apply generally across engineering and science master programs. Specific tracks like Architecture require a digital portfolio.
