Biography

Timothy Beischlag received his PhD from the University of Toronto in 1996, where he focused on transcriptional regulation of dopamine receptor genes. Following his PhD, he conducted post-doctoral research at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he characterized the molecular determinants of aryl hydrocarbon receptor-mediated gene transcription. He later continued his research at the University of California, San Diego. In 2004, Beischlag joined the Center for Molecular Toxicology and Carcinogenesis at Pennsylvania State University as an assistant research professor. He became a faculty member at Simon Fraser University's Faculty of Health Sciences in 2007. Beischlag actively seeks Masters and PhD level graduate students for his lab, providing opportunities to explore molecular mechanisms underlying organisms' responses to environmental stimuli and contaminants. His recent work investigates how hypoxia promotes cancer metastasis, revealing insights into the regulation of hypoxia-controlled gene expression and therapeutic strategies to target cancer progression.
