Dr. Timothy Brick

Biography

Timothy Brick is an Associate Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at Penn State University. He holds a Ph.D. in Cognitive Quantitative Psychology from the University of Virginia. His research focuses on the complex interactions between individuals and their environments, particularly in how these interactions can be changed to promote thriving. His interests include parent-child interactions, substance abuse recovery, and aging, especially concerning Autism spectrum conditions. Professor Brick employs real-time data collection methods, utilizing tools such as GPS sensors and wearable heart rate monitors, to gather continuous-time data and analyze it with the OpenMx framework. His approach aims to minimize participant burden while maximizing the quality of data collected, enhancing understanding of individual differences over time and in various contexts. Additionally, he has experience in structural equation modeling and social data mining. He aims to contribute to the behavioral health sciences and develop methods to effectively intervene in individual behavior through scientific research and behavioral modeling.
