Dr. Timothy Cloughesy

Biography

Timothy Cloughesy received a B.A. degree with honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an M.D. from Tulane University. He completed his neurology residency and fellowships in clinical neurophysiology at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Cloughesy is board certified in neurology and clinical neurophysiology and holds a certification in Neuro-Oncology from the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties. His research focuses on therapeutic, imaging, and translational basic investigations in brain cancer, where he has significant experience leading clinical trials involving small molecule inhibitors, antibodies, antiviral therapies, and novel clinical trial designs. He has played a pivotal role in the accelerated approval process for the drug bevacizumab for recurrent glioblastoma and has developed a brain cancer bioinformatics database to enhance translational research. He has authored and co-authored over 380 peer-reviewed articles, with a Google Scholar H index of 110. Dr. Cloughesy receives funding from various organizations, including the National Institutes of Health and the Brain Cancer SPORE at UCLA, where he serves as a co-principal investigator.
