Biography

Timothy L. Dickinson is a Professor from Practice and an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan Law School, where he is a founding faculty member of the International Transactions Clinic (ITC). He supervises ITC clinicians in compliance work with clinic clientele and teaches courses on Transnational Law, International Commercial Transactions, Anti-Corruption Law Practice, and Transactional Drafting. Prior to his academic career, he served as senior counsel at Steptoe LLP in Washington, DC, where he focused on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), international anti-corruption law, and political risk insurance matters. He has worked on major infrastructure projects in the Middle East and Asia and has represented foreign governments in public international law matters. With a rich legal background, Dickinson has been appointed as an independent monitor on several occasions and has extensive experience in establishing compliance programs and conducting special investigations. He also has served as the chair of the International Bar Association's Anti-Corruption Committee and as a director at the International Law Institute. His extensive education includes a BA and JD from the University of Michigan and an LLM from Columbia University, where he was a Jervey Fellow.
