Biography

Timothy P. Flanigan is a Professor in Health Services, Policy Practice and Medicine at Brown University. A graduate of Brown Medical School in 1991, he has focused his career on establishing a network of primary care for individuals living with HIV, with a particular emphasis on women and marginalized communities. Dr. Flanigan was instrumental in developing the HIV Care Program in Rhode Island State Prison to provide care for those living with HIV and to link them with community-based resources upon their release. Over 70% of individuals in Rhode Island living with HIV are connected to primary medical care through the Immunology Center. His research interests include HIV treatment programs both domestically and globally, including in countries such as Ghana and Ukraine. He has received numerous awards for his work in community health leadership and education, and has spent significant time in Liberia supporting health care workers during the Ebola epidemic. Additionally, Dr. Flanigan has spearheaded research projects focusing on emerging infectious diseases and the intersection of HIV and substance use disorders.
